The Convenience of Castling Online
Castling is an important move in chess, traditional or online. It provides quick access for the rook and toughens the defense for a king. Online, we do castling a bit much easier and more convenient. Here are some important points on chess castling online.
First, we must remember that traditional castling is also applicable to castling online except that online we merely click on and drag the king to its place and the rest of the procedure follow automatically. For instance, using chess notation, we have the king on e1 and the rook on h1. We click on the king and put it on g1. This move is unusual for a king.
Kings are only allowed one square at a time. When we move it from e1 to g1—and have all the conditions correct for a castling—the computer program easily catches up on this and executes a chess castling online on our behalf. Instead of clicking on the rook and putting it from h1 to f1 the computer does this for us and automatically moves the rook accordingly. Thus, all we have to do is click on and put the king to g1 and the rest is done by the software program.
Be careful, though, to have all the conditions for a castling present. Online, the conditions are the same as on a traditional board: the king should never have been moved prior to a castling, the king should never have been checked in the game, the rook should never have been moved, the castling should not be made during a check to the king, and should also not result to the king being checked.
Let's say the enemy has a pawn on h2 supported by a pawn on g3 and we have our rook on h1 and our king on e1. It's our turn to move. What we do is a castling, ending up with the king on g1 being offered for capturing by the enemy pawn on h2. This castling is illegal and will not be allowed by the site software. The software will indicate on screen that the castling is so.
Castling is a good move for demolishing the momentum of an enemy attack or foiling the direction of the same. When we see the opponent just a step or two from checking our king, castling is often the best option.
Chess castling online is a lot easier. Just initiate a move and the rest is taken care of by the software.
