Moving a Queen on an Online Board

Queens are deadliest on an online board. They have the dexterity to move in any direction—horizontally or vertically—and cover as many squares as possible. Here is how exactly we move a queen on a board online.

First, we decide on what vacant square we like to transfer it to. Second, we check if our queen can be captured by any enemy piece when transferred to that vacant square. If the coast is clear and no enemy piece can capture our queen once placed on the square, then we click on it. Notice that we check first the safety of our queen before we click on it.

After we click on our queen, the piece will automatically adhere to the pointer. That's when we may put it on the vacant square we want it on. Once we have placed it on the square we click on it again to make it remain there. We have to always check a secure vacant square for our pieces before we click on and move them to another square, especially the queen. Remember that most online chess observe the touch-move ruling.

A queen on a board online is a valuable piece to lose. If we click on it and find out too late that it has no suitable square to transfer to without getting caught, we have no choice but to move it on that turn, no matter if it gets caught. The option here is to either move it to another square where it will be safe or move it to a square where it will be supported—at least, when it gets caught, we can counter capture the capturing piece.

Then, we also have to beware that the square we transfer it to is the right square before we click on it again. The second time we click on it is the time it sticks to the square we put it on. Sometimes, in all the excitement, the queen is placed on the wrong square and then accidentally clicked on. For instance, we have our queen on d5, our king on d2, and a bishop on e6. The enemy king is on b1 and its pawn on a4. Our checkmate move is d5-a1. But as the queen is being moved and is over b3 we accidentally clicked it. Our queen will remain there to be captured and there's no recalling the move.

A queen on a board online should be handled carefully. Check everything before clicking on it.
